CICCC Update—29 February 2012 Meeting
Some CICCC meetings now held at the Terminals facility
Following a decision at the December 2011 meeting, the two meetings during daylight saving months (February and November this year) are being held at Terminals facility at Mackenzie Road, Coode Island.
These meetings are being held on a Wednesday at 3:00 pm. The Committee has requested that the November meeting will start with an inspection of the facility, which will include a demonstration of the Maintenance system used to schedule and monitor maintenance testing throughout the facility.
Jessamy Nicholas, the Manager of the Community and Stakeholder Engagement Unit at EPA, advised the meeting of several current activities.
EPA will be undertaking site inspections with rigorous assessment of the Annual Performance Statements submitted by facilities with accredited licences by the end of June 2012.
EPA will also conduct a blitz on illegal dumping in selected areas of the Melbourne Metro region.
A new iPhone App will encourage people to report illegal littering to EPA. People get a warning for a first report, and then a fine for further reports.
Faye Simpson, a community representative, queried how EPA avoids penalising people who may be targeted by erroneous or malicious reports. Jessamy has undertaken to respond to this query.
Terminals Major Hazard Licence renewal process
Peter Larose, Manager of Terminals Coode Island facility, advised that WorkSafe is doing a major inspection of the facility, involving five or six inspectors for one and a half weeks, in the lead up to the expiry of the current 5 year licence on 18 December 2012.
